As an author myself, I know the difficulties of finding a good Beta Reader. So I offer my services.
I prefer Fantasy, Horror, Supernatural, and Romance.
When Beta Reading, I focus on a few things.
I have a high priority for characters. I will note their believability, flaws, developments, and such.
From there, (mostly towards Sci-Fi/Fantasy-based novels) I will take a look at the world the story is set in and how the characters interact in said world. Then I pay attention to the flow of the story and the clarity, and if I can, I try to see the theme of the chapter and overall story.
There are a few main questions I will focus on that I ask my own Beta Readers:
Characters-
1. Are they believable?
2. Do the characters feel like they've developed and changed over time? How so?
3. Does the dialogue feel natural?
4. Who do I connect with the most?
5. Do the characters get confusing?
Plot-
1. Was the story interesting? What kept me going?
2. What do I interpret the themes to be?
3. Did the rules of the world make sense?
4. Was there enough conflict/tension throughout to keep me interested?
5. What parts frustrated me? And were they good or bad?
So if you are interested in having me as a beta reader, contact me, I read for free. I have a preference of reading chapter by chapter.
